Over the years several airplane
plans were purchased and pored over.
Larry belonged to various yahoo groups
to learn more about the KR's, Dragonfly's
Zenith, CorvairCraft, and the Hummelbird.
On August 12, 2001 plans were ordered
for the Hummel UltraCruiser. Upon
reviewal of those plans and Larry
talking with several others it was
decided that was the plane Larry
wanted to build.
There was only one hitch that Patti
could see and that was the fact that
it was a one-seater plane. Larry
explained to Patti that if she could
drive a car, something she had been
doing for 24 years, she could fly
an UltraCruiser. Now they aren't
building an airplane for Larry but
they are building TWO planes ~~ one
for Larry and one for Patti to fly.
Having a 2 car garage with a workshop
and the majority of the tools needed
it was time to get started. One last
major tool, a band saw, was purchased
on August 29, 2001 and it was time
to start building the form blocks.
On September 24th the first shipment
of aluminum arrived. Several photos
are being taken to show their progress.
