Okay are we all refreshed now? It's nice to get up and stretch those
muscles once in awhile but don't forget to save frequently!
Step 14:
As I said before, there are several options for the bottom layer. I will
give you a couple from Sandy's tutorial and then give you what I did using
the Sinedot filter. Of course I encourage you to come up with some of
your own ideas, too. To get this first effect:
follow these
steps. Highlight your background layer in the layer palette to make it
active. Go to Effects-->Texture Effects-->Blinds and use these settings:
This is to just make the background a little darker. Now go to Effects-->Texture
Effects-->Mosaic Antique and use these settings:
Another effect that Sandy did that I thought was exquisite was this
Gaussian Blur:
To achieve
this, go to your background layer in your layer palette, right click on
the layer and duplicate. Make sure the original background layer is active
and go to Effects--Blur--Gaussian Blur and make it a setting of 5. Now
activate your duplicated layer, change the blend mode to Multiply and
lower the opacity to 45.
Step 15:
To achieve my Sinedot effect follow these steps. On my background layer
I did the Gaussian Blur step as above but changed the setting to 2.25.
Step 16:
Set your foreground color to a complementary color from your graphic.
I chose #B2DDE2. Add a new layer (Make sure this layer is in between your
background layer and your inset layer). Flood fill with your foreground
color.
Step 17:
Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Dragonfly-->Sinedot and use either
my settings below or play with the sliders and make your own design.
1st Dimension from left to right is 1.05; 1.05; -4.41; 0.77 2nd Dimension
is -1.47; -1.33; -1.33; -1.19 Balance X=0.56 Balance Y=0.69 and Density=0.51.
When you have your design press OK. Reduce the opacity of this layer to
about 75. This is what mine looked like before framing:

Step 18:
Now let's dress this up by adding a frame. The first thing you want to
do is go to Layers-->Merge-->Merge Flatten Save your Image and lets
start adding borders.
Change your background color to white. Go to Image -->add
borders Make sure symmetric is checked and enter 5 for the border size
Click OK
Step 19:
Take your magic wand and select the white border -- you will get marching
ants around the border.
Step 20:
Open your Ulead Art Texture plugin. Effects -->PlugIns-->Ulead-->Art
Texture. Press edit and choose Palette 5 (this is the gold one) Click
OK and select one of the patterns and press OK (I used the top left one).
You could also use a BladePro gold preset of your choice as well. Keep
Selected.
Step 21:
Go to Selections -->Invert and add the following cutout (Effects-->3D-->Cutout)
Use these selections **Make sure fill interior with color is UNchecked.
Step 22:
Reapply the cutout but change the Vertical and Horizontal Offsets to -4
(minus 4) leaving the opacity and blur the same. Deselect and SAVE
Step 23:
Remember I told you that we would be utilizing the original graphic? Well,
now it's time *S* Change your foreground styles to patterns and choose
the original graphic for your pattern. You could also use the small inset
picture if you still have it in PSP. Depending on your graphic you will
have different outcomes and that's always fun! Add a new border and this
time let's make the border size 15. With your magic wand select the border
to get your marching ants and flood fill with your pattern. Keep selected.
Step 24:
Go to Effects-->Reflection Effects-->Kaleidoscope and use the following
settings:
Deselect and Save.
Step 25:
Add another 5 pixel white border with the same Ulead or Blade Pro preset
applied and keep selected. Go to Effects-->3D-->Drop Shadow and
apply the following settings: Color = Black; Vertical & Horizontal
Offset = 0; Opacity = 70; Blur = 10.
We're done!!! I do hope you enjoyed this tutorial
as much as I did making it. Can't wait to see YOUR finished image!
