10-27-2001 This tutorial just received an award from PSPmadeEZ for Best Tutorial of the Week (10-17-01) as voted on by the Members. Thank you so much!

There are so many things that can be done with the Sinedots II filter. The sharing of presets it one advantage that I really like. Another added bonus to the new filter is once you have a preset on a separate layer you can duplicate it, flip it, mirror it and just have a good time with it. Of course the biggest thing that everyone was looking forward to was being able to color your preset. I'm looking forward to writing many tutorials for this filter.

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP and filters at an intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S* Remember to save your work often!

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
ULead's Art Texture - You can get the free version
HERE
Sinedots II ~~ You can get it HERE.
**If this is the first time using the Sinedots II filter then create a new folder in your Plugins Folder and unzip your Sinedots II into this folder.
My Presets1 file ~~ You can get it HERE.

**Unzip into your folder you have made for your Sinedots II.

Step 1:
Open a new image, 300 x 300; 16 million colors and a transparent background. Set your foreground color to black and floodfill your layer.

Step 2:
Add a new layer. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Dragonfly-->SinedotsII. Towards the bottom of your screen you will see this:

Press open and navigate to your Sinedots folder and open the MD-settings.cfg file. Press the drop down arrow and click on md-mesh2.

Click on OK. You should have this on your screen now.

Step 3:
I found the size a bit large for what I wanted to do so go to Images-->Resize and resize the layer at 75%. Make sure that resize all layers is UNchecked.

Step 4:
Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply the following settings:

Step 5:
Using your mover tool move your Sinedots a little bit to the left. You'll probably be moving it again in a little bit, but this will give you some added room when doing the next step.

Step 6:
Go to your layer palette and duplicate layer 2. Go to Images-->Mirror and then Effects-->Sharpen-->Sharpen.

Step 7:
With your mover tool situate the two sides of your jacket so they meet and overlap a bit. Similar to this. (Have you been saving?)

Step 8:
Hide layer 1 (the layer that you flood filled with black), make sure you are on copy of layer 2 and go to Layers-->Merge-->Merge all visible. You can un-hide layer 1 now. Save!

Step 9:
While on the merged layer add a new layer. Pick up your selection tool set at circle; feather = 0; antialias UNchecked and draw a small circle in the middle of your jacket where you would like your first button to go. Set your foreground color to white and flood fill your circle. Keep selected.

Step 10:
I used the gold Ulead Art Texture preset but of course you can use a gold Blade Pro preset of your choice. To follow the way I did my button Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Ulead-->Art Texture and you will get this screen:

As you can see there are many options you can use, please see my Learning Ulead Art Texture tutorial for more information. For this tutorial we will be using the Edit option. Click on Edit. Click on #5 Gold and click OK. You will then receive a screen with 6 patterns for you to choose from. I chose the one on the bottom right. Keep Selected.

Step 11:
Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply the following settings:

Deselect and Save!

Step 12:
Copy (Ctrl+C) your button and paste as a new layer (Ctrl+L). Using your mover tool position it below the first button. Do this two more times positioning your buttons under the previous button.

Step 13:
You can either leave your jacket as is by merging all layers and adding a border, but I wanted to use it again so I tubed it. You'll want to get rid of that black background to tube it so go to your layer palette and activate layer one. Hit delete and the black is gone. Go to layers-->merge-->merge visible and your jacket is ready for tubing.

Here is one that I added to a picture before I added the buttons to it. Actually, when I sent it in to the group I was doing it for I received several requests to do a tut and decided to add the buttons.

Here is what Trijntje, my Dutch Translator, did with her jacket. I love the violin she added!

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial as much as I have creating it for you.
