JASC has come out with not one, but TWO new versions
of Paint Shop Pro ~~ Paint Shop Pro 9 and Paint Shop Pro Studio.
I was privileged to be a Private Beta tester,
prior to the release for Public Beta testing, for PSP9. This page will
contain information regarding PSP9 and I will have some tutorials up
for this version as soon as I can. As many of you know, I recently moved
from California to the Great State of Texas and it was a BIG move ~smiles~
so please bear with me as I get everything organized and some tutorials
written for you. PSP Studio is a new application for those who want
to learn how to make graphics and edit their photographs without the
hassle of learning some really complicated things. You can learn more
about PSP Studio by going HERE.
What’s new with version 9? There are new
filters to help edit your photographs, there are art tools that allow
you to create digital art that will emulate real-life painting styles,
there is new shape tools and improved text tool and a displacement map
filter that allows you to create 2 and 3 dimensional surface effects.
Some of the new tools include a History Palette that allows you to do
a selective undo, something that users have been asking for a long time
– what this means is that you can choose which step you want to
undo without it affecting any of the following steps! There is now a
resource manager that allows you to organize your resource files by
projects or subjects and in printing there are a number of new templates
for you to choose from and you can even add text captions to your photo
layouts! Let’s see how some of these new items work. There won’t
be tutorials per se but I will show you a few things that you can accomplish
with some of the new features!
For those of you who work with photographs, be
it digital or regular camera’s, PSP9 has some exciting new features.
There is the Digital Camera Noise Removal Filter that will scan the
photo and will remove noise while preserving textures. To see an example
how this works click HERE.
The Backlighting filter helps compensate for over-exposed
areas surrounding the subject of the photo while the Fill Flash filter
corrects the underexposure of shadows in a photo. You can see some examples
of this by clicking HERE.
While you can still create shapes and objects
using the Pen Tool and the Preset Shapes tool, PSP9 now offers 3 new
tools (Rectangle, Ellipse, and Symmetric Shape) that gives you all of
the controls needed to create your own buttons, banners, or custom shape.
You can learn a little more about these three exciting new tools HERE.
