This tutorial
is written in and for PSP8.10 and assumes you have
a working knowledge of PSP at an intermediate level,
however I do try to write all my tutorials so that
even the most novice beginner can understand it
and accomplish it.
YOU
WILL NEED:
JASC's PSP8.10
(30 day free trial) - You can get it HERE
A graphic for your globe ~~ I don't know
where the graphic that I used came from, so I cannot
offer it for download. Any graphic will suffice
though.
Remember, my tutorials are only guidelines
to help you accomplish a certain creation. Please
feel free to be inventive and take whatever liberties
you would like. I encourage each of you to do your
"own thing" and make your creation yours!
Screenshots
are resized and compressed for faster loading.
Congratulations on making your snowglobe and
your own base. Now it's time to animate your snowglobe.
There are a couple of things to note regarding PSP8 and
the Animation Shop. The AS has not been upgraded to recognize
PSP8 so when saving your images to work in AS they have
to be recognizable as PSP7 images. There a a couple of
ways to do this which I will show you in a minute.
Step 1:
First we need to make 3 duplicate images of your original
snowglobe with all layers intact. You can either go to
Window-->Duplicate or use the keyboard shortcut of
Shift+D. After you have your 3 duplicates you may want
to close out your saved original.
Step 2:
Activate your first duplicate image. Go to your layer
palette and hide the snow3 and snow2 layers.

Go to File--Save and navigate to the folder you
want to save your image in. I'm saving mine in My Documents.
Change the file name to Image1 and in the save as type,
click on the down arrowhead and scroll up to Animation
Shop (*.psp). Click Save.

Because we used a group layer in our
creation, and group layers are not recognized in PSP7,
you will get this error message.

Click yes to continue.
NOTE: If you are not using version
8.10 of PSP8 you do not have the option to save as Animation
Shop. You can either just type in the extension of .psp
or you can click on the Options box on the right side
and choose PSP7 Compatible.

Step 3:
Activate your second duplicate image and hide snow3 layer
and snow1 layer.

Save your image as Image2. Click yes
on the error message.
Step 4:
Activate your third duplicate image and hide snow2 layer
and snow1 layer.

Save your image as Image3. Click yes
on the error message.
Step 5:
Go to File-->Jasc Software Products-->Launch Animation
Shop.

Your AS will now come up.
Step 6:
The first thing you want to do in AS is go to Files-->Preferences-->General
Program Preferences and click on the Layers Files tab.
Check the Merge layers into a single frame radio button
and click OK.

Step 7:
On your toolbar click on the Animation Wizard Icon. This
is the first icon on your toolbar.

You will get this dialog box. Choose
Same size as the first image frame and click next.

In your next dialog box choose Transparent.
Click Next.

In your next dialog box choose Upper
left corner of the frame and With the canvas color. Click
Next.

Next we have if you want the animation
to be looped. Choose Yes, repeat the animation indefinitely.
I used 10 for each frame to be displayed in this animation.
Click Next.

The next dialog box is where you Add
your images. Click on the Add Image Button.

You can click on each image individually
and keep clicking Add Image, OR you can work smarter
- not harder - by highlighting Image3, hold down your
Ctrl key and highlight Image2 and then highlight Image1.
They will then all come up in the correct order of Image1,
Image2, and Image3.

Click Open.

When you choose next you will have
your final Wizard box and click Finish. You will then
get your frames.

Step 8:
You can view how your animation will look, prior to saving
it, by clicking on the filmstrip at the far right side
of your toolbar.

Your animation will now show in a
separate window. If you are happy with your animation,
click on the X to close it.
Step 9:
Go to File-->Save. You will get this dialog box. Give
your animation a unique name and click save.

Step 10:
When you click Save you will now get this Wizard. Click
Next.

The wizard will now show your Optimization
Progress. When it is done click Next.

Next it will show you your original
image and the optimized image. Click Next.

Your next box will show you how big
your file is in K bytes and how long it will take to
download depending on the modem speed.

Click finish and your animation has
been saved.
