I love to experiment with different effects and was quite pleased with what I came up with while playing around in Ulead's Art Texture. I used this technique when doing one of the Graphics Of the Week for the PSP-Addicts group. They immediately requested a tutorial *grin* and even helped with the name. I would like to thank Doreen for coming up with the Ulead Glow Frame name.

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP and filters at an intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S*

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
ULead's Art Texture - You can get the free version HERE
**When executing the setup, the program will look for Photoshop on your computer to install Art Texture. Click on the Browse button and navigate to your PSP PLUGINS FOLDER and install Art Texture there. If you don't do this the program will not work properly for you.
My Inner Bevel Preset ~ You can get it HERE
**unzip into your PSP Presets folder.
A graphic ~~ The graphic I used came from Art Today. It is a picture from Monterey, California.

Step 1:
Open your graphic in PSP and make a copy of it (Shift+D). The main reason for making a copy is in case I want to use the image again and forget to change the name when I save *S* You can close out your original graphic. Remember to save often.

Step 2:
Set your background color to a complementing color from your graphic. Go to Images-->Border. Make sure symmetric is check and add a border of 3. Use your magic wand, tolerance and feather at 0, select your border to get the marching ants around it. **Each time you add a border, use your Magic Wand to select it.

Step 3:
Go to Effects-->3D-->Buttonize and add the following settings. Keep Selected.

Step 4:
Go to Selections-->Invert. Effects-->3D-->Cutout. Apply the following settings, changing the color to a light color from your graphic. This will give it a bit of a glow around the edges. Keep selected.

Apply the cutout one more time, but change the Vertical and Horizontal Offsets to Minus 4. Deselect and Save.

Step 5:
Add a border of 13. Select your border with your Magic Wand. Go to Effects-->Ulead Effects-->Art Texture. Click on Edit and the following Screen will come up.

Select Palette 5. To change the color of your preset click on the Hue Shift until you have the color that will complement your graphic. You can see the color changes at the bottom of your screen. Remember the number you have in your Hue Shift box, we will be using it again. When you are satisfied with your color, click OK. The following screen will appear.

I chose the bottom middle pattern to give the glow effect. Click OK. Keep Selected.

Step 6:
Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply the md-glow preset. Deselect and Save.

Step 7:
Add a new border of 8. Effects-->3D-->Buttonize, apply the same settings.

Step 8:
Add a new border of 18. Apply your same Ulead Art Texture. Apply the same Inner Bevel.

Step 9:
Add a border of 5 and buttonize. You're done!

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did creating it.

I want to thank my tutorial testers for their hard work and helping me have my tutorials as perfect as possible for you. Without these gals I wouldn't be where I am at today! Thank you Randie, Beckie, SueCat, Elkay, Terri and our newest tester Suz!
