There is nothing more exciting than sitting at the computer and playing with PSP and coming up with a new design just by accident! That is exactly how this button frame came about. It's a very simple tutorial and there is so much you can do with your button. Let your imagination soar!

Once again we will be using the Silver Filter from Flaming Pear. This is part of the Designer Sextet set and in my opinion is one of the better investments I have made.

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP and filters at an intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S*

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
Flaming Pear's Designer Sextet Series ~~ You can get the trial download HERE
My Silver Preset ~~ You can get it HERE
**unzip into your Silver Presets folder in your Sextet Folder

Step 1:
Open a new image 300x300, 16 million colors, transparent background. Set your foreground color to white and your background color to Null.

Step 2:
Activate your preset shapes,, using the Octagon Shape, line width set at 15; retain style and create as vector UNchecked.

Step 3:
Draw out an octagonal shape covering most of your screen. Pick up your magic wand (tolerance and feather set to 0) and select the border you just made. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Flaming Pear-->Silver and apply the md-buttonframe preset. To get to the md-buttonframe preset that I made, click on the red arrow and navigate to your Silver Presets Folder and open the md-buttonframe preset.

Press OK. Deselect and save.

If you would like, you can change the color of your preset by clicking on color2 (and/or color1) and choose the color you like. It will keep the other settings the same, just change the color.

Step 4:
Pick up your magic wand and click on the center, transparent area inside your octagon. Go to selections-->modify-->expand and enter 3. Flood fill with white. Go to effects-->plugins-->flaming pear-->silver and apply your silver preset.

You now have your button frame! You can add a new layer and apply the tube of your choice and/or text. You can add a background and border and save as a .jpg or you can save it as a .gif.

Here is another that I did. I changed the color in the preset and added some text.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did creating it.

Many thanks to my tutorial testers, Terri, Randie, Elkay, Beckie and Sue. Without these gals I wouldn't be where I am today.
