I'm having a lot of fun with the different filters that are offered for PSP and one that I have just recently started exploring is the NVR Bordermania filter. I have been given permission by Tom Carlino of NVR to offer my download file on this website in lieu of giving a link to their website.

This creation is a tad different as it uses a tube instead of a graphic, although you can use a graphic just as easily. We will also be using the ULead Art Texture, Paint Engine by Fantastic Machines and also NVR Bordermania. I do hope that you enjoy this tutorial as much as I have making it for you.

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
Fantastic Machines PaintEngine Filter - You can get it HERE

**Unzip into your plug-ins folder AND also unzip into your C:/Windows folder to enable the default settings
ULead's Art Texture - You can get the free version HERE

NVR - Bordermania ~~ You can get it HERE
**Unzip into your plug-ins folder
A tube or graphic of your choice ~~ I used a tube from Dixie at Annexcafe.com If you would like to use this same download it HERE

Step 1: (using a tube)
If you are using a tube then bring up your tube in PSP. Go to layers-->add Raster Layer. Go to layers-->Arrange-->Send to bottom. Set your foreground color to a complementary color from your tube (I used # A99D75) make sure you are on the bottom layer and flood fill your layer. Go to Effects-->Plugin Filters-->Fantastic Machines-->Paint Engine and apply the ice crystals preset:

Step 2:
If you are using a tube and have done the above then go to Layers-->Merge-->Merge Visible. Now it doesn't matter if you are using the tube or a graphic, you need to make a copy of your image. (Shift +D) and minimize the original. We will be using this later on in the tutorial.

Step 3:
Go to Image-->Add Border--> Make sure symmetric is checked and add a border of 5.

Step 4:
Take your magic wand and select the white border -- you will get marching ants around the border. Make sure the tolerance for the magic wand is set at 0 or it could select more than just the border.

Step 5:
Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Ulead-->Art Texture and choose the option you would like for this frame. So many times I have used the #5 Gold, so this time I used the #25 Silver, press edit and then I chose the middle bottom selection.
Keep Selected.

Step 6:
Go to Selections-->Invert and apply the following cutout:

Reapply the cutout using minus 8 for the vertical and horizontal offsets. Deselect.

Step 7:
Go to Effects-->Plug In Filter -->NVR Bordermania -->Flat Solid with the following settings:

Step 8:
Remember I told you that we would be utilizing the original graphic? Well, now it's time *S* Change your foreground styles to patterns and choose the original graphic for your pattern. Set your pattern at 50% and angle at 50% Add a new border and this time let's make the border size 15. With your magic wand select the border to get your marching ants and flood fill with your pattern. Keep selected.

Step 9:
Go to Effects-->Texture Effects-->Texture and choose Wrinkled and use these settings:

Deselect and Save.

Step 10:
Add another border ~ size of 5 ~~ using your magic wand to click on the new border once again add the Ulead Art Texture that we used before. Keep selected and go to Selections-->Invert and apply both cutouts as we did before. Deselect.

Step 11:
Go to Plug-In Filter - NVR Bordermania - Flat Solid and apply the same settings as above.

Step 12:
Switch your foreground and background colors and apply another border ~~ this time making the size 3.

Step 13:
Switch your foreground and background colors again and make another new border with the size of 5. With the Magic Wand click on the new white border and once again apply the ULead Art Texture that we have been using. Deselect and Save.

Step 14:
Go to Effects--Plugin--NVR Bordermaina--Flat Border and apply the settings below:

We're done and what a nice job you all did *S* Here is another one that I did using the Gold effect in Ulead ~~
