I found a really neat way to turn a graphic into looking like
it was carved into stone. We will be using another mask that I made
some time ago, please feel free to use it anytime but do not offer
it for download on a website or include it in a CD for sale. We will
also be using Paint Engine, Eye Candy 3.1 and did you know that Flaming
Pear has some free plug-ins also? I found them a few weeks ago and
have been experimenting with some of them. You receive 9 free Plugins
in the download and the one we will be using in this tutorial is called
Ghost.
This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7 and assumes
you have a working knowledge of PSP at an intermediate/advanced level.
I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments
in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S*
You will need:
JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it
HERE
My mask ~~ You can get it HERE
**unzip into your PSP Masks Folder
Fantastic Machines PaintEngine Filter - You can get it HERE
**Make sure that you unzip into both your Plugins Folder and also
your C:/Windows Folder. You will NOT see the presets if you do not
have this in the Windows Folder!
Flaming Pear's Ghost Plug-in ~~ You can get it HERE
**scroll down the page until you find Free Plugins
Eye Candy 3 - You can get the free version HERE
A Graphic - The one I used is called Protection by Blaze. I have
been given permission from Blaze to use her work in my tutorials.
You can see more of her beautiful work here.
You may use this graphic (right click on the graphic below and save
to your own hard-drive) or one of your own choosing.

Step 1:
Open your graphic in PSP and make a copy of it (Shift+D). The main
reason for making a copy is in case I want to use the image again
and forget to change the name when I save *S* You can close out your
original graphic. Remember to save often.
Step 2:
Set your foreground color to a complementing color from your graphic.
I chose #C1FAFF.
Step 3:
First we are going to add the mask. Add a new layer to your graphic
and flood fill with your foreground color.
Step 4:
Go to Mask -->Load from Disk and find your MD-Hummingbird_mask
and press open. I know it looks funny but we will fix it.
Step 5:
Go to Mask -->Invert and it will now look like this.

Step 6:
Go to Masks -->Delete and again answer yes to merging into current
layer. SAVE
Step 7:
Go to Effects-->Plugins>Fantastic Machines-->Paint Engine
and apply the growth preset.

Apply the Paint Engine growth preset THREE times.
SAVE.
Step 8:
Go to Effects-->Plugins>EyeCandy 3.1-->Inner Bevel and apply
the Low Flat Edge preset.
and SAVE.
This gave it a nice "carved" look but now
we want to make it look like stone.
Step 9:
Go to Layers-->Merge-->Merge all visible.
Step 10:
Go to Effects-->Plugins>Flaming Pear-->Ghost and it will
all of a sudden look like this:

Yikes! That looks kind of eerie ~~ LOL. Let's fix
that up just a bit shall we?
Step 11:
Add a new layer and go to Layers-->Arrange-->Send to Bottom.
Step 12:
Change your foreground color to a light beige - I used #FBEBC9. Make
sure you are on the bottom layer and flood fill with your beige color.

Wow! What a difference. Add your watermark, merge
all layers and you have your Carved Stone graphic.
Here are some of the other ones that I did.
I hope that you've enjoyed this tutorial as much
as I have enjoyed writing it.
