Making
the
Candles
Welcome
back.
It
sure
feels
good
to
get
up
and
stretch
once
in
awhile
doesn't
it?
Let's
continue
on
with
making
our
candles
to
add
to
the
bridge.
Step
1:
Open
a
new
image
250x300,
16
million
colors,
transparent
background.
We
want
to
have
plenty
of
room
to
work
with
and
will
be
resizing
your
candle
before
we
are
finished.
Set
your
foreground
styles
to
Null
and
your
Background
color
to
the
color
you
want
your
candle
to
be.
I
used
a
deep
red
#C00000.
Step
2:
Add
a
new
layer
(Layers-->New
Raster
Layer),
activate
your
preset
shapes.
Use
the
Round
Rectangle
preset,
antialias
checked.
Retain
Style
and
Create
as
vector
UNchecked.
In
the
middle
of
your
canvas
draw
out
a
rectangle
approximately
15w
x
125h.
Remember
where
I
showed
you
to
look
for
your
coordinates
in
the
first
part
of
this
tutorial.

Step
3:
Go
to
Effects-->3D-->Inner
Bevel
and
apply
these
settings.
Save.

Step
4:
Add
a
new
layer,
name
it
base.
Change
your
background
color
to
White.
Using
your
preset
shapes
tool,
draw
out
a
rectangle
on
the
bottom
of
your
candle
about
35w
x
20h.
Step
5:
Go
to
Effects-->Texture
Effects-->Sculpture.
I
used
the
Gold
Preset.

Step
6:
Go
to
Effects-->Texture
Effects-->Blinds
and
apply
the
following
settings:

Here
is
how
my
candle
looks
so
far.

Step
7:
Add
a
new
layer,
name
it
flame.
Activate
your
preset
shapes
and
scroll
to
the
tear
drop
shape.

Change
your
foreground
color
to
Yellow
(#FFFF00)
and
your
background
color
to
Orange
(#F36303).
On
your
Color
Styles
select
Gradient.
,
and
choose
foreground
background
from
the
dropdown
list.

Use
the
linear
style
and
invert
your
gradient.

Draw
out
a
flame
on
top
of
your
candle.
Are
you
saving??
*S*

Step
8:
Go
to
Effects-->3D-->Drop
Shadow
and
apply
the
following
settings
to
your
flame.

Step
9:
You
can
now
decorate
your
base.
Add
a
new
layer,
name
it
decoration.
I
used
the
Holly
tube
from
JASC's
Holiday
Christmas
Shapes.
Activate
your
picture
tubes
tool,
,
and
scroll
to
your
holly
tube,
if
that
is
what
you
are
going
to
use.
I
set
mine
at
a
scale
of
30.

The
tube
is
randomly
set,
so
you
may
have
to
undo
and
apply
a
couple
of
times
to
get
it
aligned
to
your
liking,
or
you
can
use
the
deformation
tool
to
rotate
your
holly.
This
is
how
mine
turned
out.

Step
10:
Duplicate
your
decoration
layer.
Go
to
Image-->Mirror
and
use
your
Mover
tool
to
place
it
on
the
opposite
side
of
your
base.

Step
11:
We
want
to
cutout
the
excess
transparent
background.
Activate
your
crop
tool,
,
and
draw
a
rectangle
around
your
image.

When
you
are
happy
with
it,
either
double
click
on
your
work
area
or
go
to
your
tool
options
box
and
click
Crop
Image.

Step
12:
Go
to
Layers-->Merge-->Merge
Visible.
You
can
now
save
your
candle
and
export
it
as
a
tube
if
you
like
for
other
projects.
Let's
put
our
candles
on
our
bridge.
Go
to
Edit-->Copy
(Ctrl+C).
Step
13:
Activate
your
Bridge
image
that
you
made
in
part
1.
Go
to
Edit-->Paste-->As
A
New
Layer
(Ctrl+L)
and
place
your
candle
on
one
of
the
steps
on
your
bridge.
Continue
to
do
this
until
all
6
steps
are
covered
and
you
are
done!
You
can
now
decorate
your
bridge
to
your
tastes.
When
you
are
done
and
are
satisfied
with
your
results
go
to
Layers--Merge-->Merge
Visible.
Crop
it,
tube,
add
a
background
layer
and/or
frame
it.
The
possibilities
are
endless.
I
hope
you
have
enjoyed
this
tutorial
as
much
as
I
did
creating
it.
