Eleven days have passed since tragedy struck America, it is now time to get on with life. I have had several people ask me when I will be writing new tutorials and I am pleased to say that time has come.

When doing one of the weekly WETS for a group that I belong to I created the above picture. Several of those in the group asked if I would do a tutorial, as they really liked the effect. This tutorial uses Filter Factory Gallery A and Filter Factory Gallery B. I also used ULead Art Texture for one of my borders, this is not necessary but I do have the download information for you below. Depending on the graphic that you choose to use will decide what YOUR final creation will look like.

Update: Please note that the Tunnel Tile is no longer in FFA and some have had problems with getting James Bondage in FFB. The author of Tunnel Tile is Kipp McMichael and he has a new set of filters created by him that includes the Tunnel Tile! And VM has James Bondage so I am changing what you need for this tutorial.

I make my tutorials as guidelines for you to achieve a certain effect. Please feel free to make any variation and make your creation YOU!

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7 and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP at a beginners - intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S*

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
FunHouse ~~ You can get it HERE

**Note ~~ there is a Funhouse1 and a Funhouse2. The Tunnel Tile is in FH2 but you may wish to download both to get full use of this fantastic filter.
VisMan ~~ You can get it HERE

**unzip into your Plugins Folder
ULead's Art Texture (optional) - You can get the free version HERE
A Graphic ~~ It's best to choose a graphic that has a person or animal as the focal point. I used the graphic below. I do not know who the artist is, so if anyone recognizes it and can let me know I would appreciate it so I can write to the artist.

If you would like to use the graphic that I used please right click on the graphic and save to your hard drive.

Step 1:
Open your graphic in PSP and make a copy of it (Shift+D). The main reason for making a copy is in case I want to use the image again and forget to change the name when I save *S* You can close out your original graphic. Set your foreground to a color from your graphic (I chose one of the blues) and your background to White. Remember to save often.

Step 2:
Go to your selections tool, set at Ellipse; Feather = 0; Antialias checked. Draw an oval around the part that you would like emphasized. This may take a few tries to get just the area that you want. That's one of the things I really like about PSP7 and that's the undo (or ctrl+Z) feature. Keep selected.

Step 3:
Go to Selections-->Invert. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->FunHouse-->Tunnel Tile and apply the following settings: depth=244; tiles=4. Keep selected.

Step 4:
Go to Selections-->Invert. Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply these settings.

Keep selected and save.

Step 5:
Go to Selections-->Invert. Go to Effects-->3D-->Drop Shadow and use the following settings: Vertical and Horizontal Offset = 3; Opacity=70; Blur=10.6 Deselect and Save.

Step 6:
Go to Image-->Add Border--> Make sure symmetric is checked and add a border of 5. Take your magic wand and select the white border -- you will get marching ants around the border. Make sure the tolerance for the magic wand is set at 0 or it could select more than just the border. Apply your favorite Ulead or Blade Pro preset. Keep selected and save.

Step 7:
Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply the same Inner Bevel that we used previously.

Step 8:
Go to Selections-->Invert and apply the following cutout:

Apply once more but change the vertical and horizontal numbers to minus 5. Deselect and save.

Step 9:
Go to your color palette and switch your foreground and background colors. Your background color should now be the color that you chose earlier from your graphic. Go to Images-->Border and add a border of 25. Using your magic wand select that border and get those ants to start marching. **grins**

Step 10:
Go to Effects-->Plugins-->VM Extravaganza-->James Bondage and apply the default settings. Depending on whether your graphic is wider or taller will depend on where the Bondage will show on your frame. Deselect and Save. We're almost done!

Step 11:
Go to Selections -->Select All (Ctrl+A) Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply the following settings:

You're finished! Here are a few more that I did using this method.

Remember, if you are using this tutorial for a group lesson and you need to resize your finished product, here is some instruction for you.

If you need to resize your final work go to Images --> Resize. Here is something you need to know about resizing. One of the tricks you should use to squeeze the absolute best out of a resized image is to always try to resize to exactly three-quarters (75%), one-half (50%), or one-quarter (25%) the original image size. The mathematical reasons this works the best are beyond what I could explain in this little tip; but trust me--it works. Basically, Paint Shop Pro uses a complex algorithm to figure out which pixels to keep and which ones to throw out. Using a standard resize value lets PSP work at its optimal levels. I also have to add that ANY time you resize in PSP (including tubes!) you must sharpen your image for optimal viewing. Go to Effects --> Sharpen -->Sharpen.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did creating it.
